In September 2015 Cardiff School of Art and Design commissioned me to produce a number of silk screen-printed T-shirts and display boards representing the artists involved in EASTN Festival.
The idea of this festival is to connect traditional crafts with hi-tech, hand-made and machine-made products in art and science. In keeping with this theme the boards were produced with the help of two surface pattern techniques: laser cutting and hand silk screen-printing. Those two techniques are very different, but it doesn't mean that they cannot work well together!
I have to admit, painted plywood was a challenging surface to print on, but thanks to this experience I feel so much more confident in working with other surfaces than paper and textiles.
